ZUKUNFTSMUSIK NUREMBERG
After the City of Nuremberg purchased a centrally located department store to prevent vacancy caused by speculation, we were invited to contribute artistically to the kickoff event. “Break of Continuity” features a multitude of elongated lines in varying widths, stretching across the windows of the former Kaufhof store building. These lines are interrupted and layered with additional strands, creating a dynamic, multidimensional effect that brings the large-scale adhesive design to life.
The diverse colors and contrasts, along with the breaks, symbolize the transformation this location will undergo in the near future. They metaphorically represent the temporary "wrapping," similar to a move or renovation, to be "unwrapped" again after a phase of redesign. For places like this Kaufhof, an era is coming to an end, and new ideas are needed to embrace the change. This also means letting go of things that may have been valuable in the past but no longer serve as a model for the future.
