Nicolas Lawin is a contemporary artist who specializes in Tape Art. He has been part of the Berlin-based artist collective TAPE THAT since 2013. His artistically active parents gave him his first insights into the world of design at an early age. However, after completing his studies in communication design and working as a designer, he quickly realized that traditional graphic design was not his calling. The strict world of corporate identities and consumer-oriented sales concepts did not fit in with his idea of creativity. Just as his passion did not fit into the world of advertising, the medium of adhesive tape did not initially seem to fit into the world of art either.
Nevertheless, it was precisely this medium that offered Nicolas Lawin the opportunity to fully express his creativity in a new and artistic way. The opportunity to make this unknown art form better known motivated him right from the start. Over the following ten years, he was able to work with the collective to establish adhesive tape as a recognized artistic medium throughout the world. The experiences, successes, and challenges of this journey were to contribute significantly to his current approach to tape as an art medium and his style as a contemporary artist.
